Bizarre Accelerator

Description

(In parallel universe) Having finished your contract at CERN, you are given a task from your government/institution to design an accelerator for various purposes. This game will help you to do so.

In this game, basically players will design an accelerator. Given initial position of the particle and position of the target, the players will have to put some magnetic field and/or electric field in some places so that the particle can reach the target with some amount of energy. There are also some stages with increasing difficulty and different challenge. The challenge could be:

  • some arrangement of blocking materials (which the particles could not pass through them),
  • limitation of magnetic field and electric field that you can provide, and
  • some accuracy of target position and energy.

There will be many variations in this game. For example, you can put a block of:

  • magnetic field area,
  • stronger magnetic field,
  • electric field,
  • alternating magnetic field (on/off), etc.

The goals of every stage are also different. Sometimes the players have to build:

  • proton beams for cancer treatment (so it must have accurate energy and position),
  • particle collider (so the players need to put alternating magnetic field to split bunch of particles), or
  • X-Ray radiation (so the players have to produce photons from the particles).

There will be also various particles in the accelerator and each of them has its own uniqueness. Electrons, for example, will be much faster to accelerate than protons, but it has bremsstrahlung radiation when accelerated. Muons, another example, will give less bremsstrahlung radiation than electrons but they have short lifetimes. All these particles will be introduced one by one as players pass several stages.

Optionally, we can provide additional elements, such like:

  • dielectric materials (to produce Cherenkov radiation) and
  • laser (to get Compton scattering effect).

There will be many physics the players will learn from this game!

This game will be developed on modern browsers using HTML5 and Javascript technology. So you don't need to install anything except your browser!
