HEP Tycoon is a fun and educational game where the player manages a High Energy Particle Physics research facility. She/he has to upgrade her/his accelerator and data centre, build and upgrade detectors and hire or fire scientists that turn data into publications. Along the way, there are a lot of educational texts on particle physics. During the cause of the game the player gets to discover new particles and her/his laboratory is awarded funding for that.

Within the 48 hours of the webfest, the game was written almost completely from scratch. Only for the frontend (bootstrap, angular.js, jQuery) and the interface between front- and backend (Flask), frameworks have been used.
